MURATAYA was founded in 1890 with the name of "Murakami Seizaburou shouten" in what is now Goutu City(Shimane Prefecture). In its early stages, the founder was selling not only kimono, but also other types of clothes. The 2nd generation(1954-), Tadashi Murakami, decided to focus on kimono.
Since then, we have set our motto as follows: "We will deliver excellent products at reasonable prices." He visited kimono manufacturer and wholesalers in person, checking the quality with his own hands and eyes, and decided what to procure.
This sincere and careful approach is still adopted by the 4th generation, Toru Murakami.
